Any sophisticated tourist visiting Puerto Vallarta knows to make dinner reservations at Café des Artistes, a restaurant in Centro on the famed Art Walk neighbourhood.
This beautiful place is beloved for its grown-up culinary pleasures, specialty cocktails and fun atmosphere. It’s the best place in town to indulge in Mexican influenced dishes prepared with French techniques! The menu is designed with mostly locally grown produce: fresh, organic and top quality.
We love to share a bunch of small plates like the smoked magret and confit duck chilaquiles or the octopus ‘tiradito’ with chili vinaigrette and then we normally split one or two of Chef Thierry Blouets signature entrees, like the giant prawn adobados or the ‘vacio’ grill with red wine and hibiscus reduction.
Chef Thierry is one of the most joyful chefs we’ve ever met and that joy is splashed down to everyone who is part of the team – it’s a very happy staff. He had a dream that started 24 years ago, for serving with warmth and professionalism, and it continues today.
When we first arrived in Puerto Vallarta, this was where we chose to have our first celebration…and we keep coming back. So if you find yourselves heading to the Bay, be sure to make a reservation and enjoy the beauty and culinary wonders of this local favorite. Oh, and make sure you try the tamarind or cucumber martini!
